Ruhr24 GmbH & Co. KG assures you that Buzz09 complies with the statutory requirements of the press laws, the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the Telemedia Act (TMG) and other privacy laws. Protecting the privacy and security of our customers is of the utmost importance to us.

Personal data

You can use Buzz09 without having to register first. When you use it, we collect general technical information which is not personally identifiable, such as the software and hardware you are using, the IP address of your computer, the websites you have visited, the times you visited them and how much time you spent there. This technical information is recorded for statistical analysis, so that we can ensure that Buzz09 is secure for users and can continue optimizing its content.

Buzz09 only stores personal data when you enter it yourself, for example to sign up for sweepstakes, to send us an e-mail or to subscribe to a service.

We guarantee that this personal information is processed and utilized in accordance with the German regulations on the protection of personal data. We will not pass on personal data to third parties unless you have explicitly consented for us to do so, for example when signing up for a chance to win a sweepstake. Any partner companies that we use to help process data are contractually obliged to treat this data carefully in accordance with the legal requirements and our specifications, and not to pass it on to third parties or use it for their own purposes.

Data is only passed to state institutions and authorities when there is a mandatory legal obligation to do so. As a user, you have the right, for a fee, to obtain immediate information on the data recorded about your person and how the database is logically structured (Sections 14, 15 TMG, Sections 6, 6a, 34 BDSG). When it is necessary to store and process data, we do so in strict compliance with the provisions of the BDSG, the TMG and other laws on privacy. The data is stored on a special secure sever and is deleted once the statutory, corporate or contractual retention periods expire. Any data that is not subject to these retention periods is deleted as soon as its agreed purpose has been fulfilled.

Social plugins

Buzz09 uses what are known as social plugins, for example so that you can recommend content or share it with your friends on Facebook or Twitter. You can only use these social plugins if you are signed up to the social networks. Please note that when using social networks, their terms of use and privacy policies apply.

Tracking and analytical services

As the operator of Buzz09, Ruhr24 GmbH & Co. KG collects and stores statistical data. This data is stored for internal purposes only and does not contain any clues as to your identity. One of the tools we use is Google Analytics, a statistical program which records use of the app in an anonymized manner. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files stored on your smartphone to allow your use of the app to be analyzed.

The information the cookie generates on your use of Buzz09 is generally sent to a Google server in the United States of America and stored there. Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of the Buzz09 app, to compile reports on user habits and to perform other services for us that are related to the use of the app and the internet. Although the app sends your IP address to Google Analytics, it is not used in connection with any other Google data. Please note that in Buzz09, the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” has been added to Google Analytics to ensure that IP addresses are recorded anonymously (IP masking). This means it is not possible to link them to an actual person.

By using the app, you agree to the collected data being processed anonymously as described above.

Push notifications

If you want Buzz09 to send our push notifications to your smartphone, even when you do not have the app open, you must give us permission to do so. We ask you about this the first time you start the iPhone version. The app only uses push notifications if you have explicitly agreed to it. You can change the push notifications at any time in the device settings.
